Our office is committed to providing you with the highest standard of vision care available. The optomap retinal image provides us with important information about your health without uncomfortable pupil dilating drops that can cause blurred vision and light sensitivity for hours later. A comprehensive retinal examination can detect signs of diseases that affect your overall health:

  • Diabetic Retinopathy – caused by changes in the blood vessels in the eye
  • Hypertension – increased pressure in the blood vessels with can result in damage to the blood vessels in the eye
  • Age Related Macular Degeneration – caused by changes in the retina due to the body’s aging process (learn more at Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)
  • Retinal Detachment – caused by severe near-sightedness, trauma or systemic diseases. This can lead to permanent vision loss if gone undetected.

Retinal images give our doctors a permanent record of the condition of your retina. This is very important for assisting in detecting and measuring any changes in the retina each time your eyes are examined.
